Unallowable SIS Service Activities

Any internship or practicum that is paid (SIS stipend policy)

Any service at a for-profit organization

Any service completed at a site that does not provide liability or similar insurance for its volunteers

Any service which is purely done on-campus and does not help the community in any way

Any work study student not designated as "community service work study" by financial aid office

Any international service

Any service done outside the SIS program's participating states

Any service that displaces a paid employee of the site and/or work that was performed or was assigned to a presently employed worker; an employee who recently resigned or was discharged; an employee who is subject to a reduction in workforce and who has recall rights pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement or applicablepersonnel procedure; an employee who is on leave; or an employee who is on strike or being locked out.
