Service Phase: Managing the SIS Program
Once a member is enrolled in the SIS program, your main areas of concentration are inputting time logs, active member management, and encouraging member reflection.
What should be done before inputting a timelog into WBRS:
- Make sure time log is completed in pen and not pencil
- Check that they added up the hours of service correctly for training, fundraising, and service hours
- Check that they entered totals in the volunteer recruitment/youth participation section because these numbers are important in the SIS program meeting grant goals for volunteer recruitment and working with youth
- Check that the member describes their member development hours, fundraising, and service hours and that they match what they said they would do on their site agreement and membership development plan
- Check the site supervisor signing the time log is the same site supervisor who signed their site agreement. The site supervisor must provide the date when signing.
- Make sure the member signs and dates the time log
If the member fails to fill out the time log correctly, send the time log back to them and do not accept it until it is filled out correctly. At no time should you input an incorrect time log into WBRS. Finally, what is inputted into a members time log on WBRS should be exactly what is showing on the hard copy time log for the month given.
900 hr Members only: A Mid-Term Site Supervisor Evaluation is required once member completes 450 hrs of service.
Active Member Management
SIS expects campus partners to actively manage their members. The information contained in this link will be helpful in making it easier to manage your members and slots.
Member Reflection
An important part of a member’s SIS experience is that they have opportunities to reflect on their AmeriCorps service and how that service may be benefiting them and/or their site. Please encourage members to submit Great Stories throughout a member's term of service. Also, SIS strongly encourages Campus Partners to have regular SIS reflection meetings every quarter or semester for all members so that they can share their experiences with each other and/or with potential SIS members.Learn more about SIS: (Required of all Members)
