Getting Started: Site Supervisors
We are pleased you are interested in serving as a Site Supervisor for a Students in Service (SIS) AmeriCorps member.
The Students in Service program can be of great benefit to the agency, school, or non-profit for which you work. This program not only fosters volunteer recruitment success, but volunteer retention as well. Often organizations like yours are faced with limited budgets and are unable to offer financial incentives for students to provide much needed services and support. Similarly, students facing rising costs of attending at a university or college cannot afford to make a commitment to volunteering. The Students in Service program is designed to offer students financial assistance for their participation in National Service, and offer organizations like yours an incentive tool for recruiting volunteers from local colleges and universities. Community-based agencies, non-profits, and schools, have found that the Students in Service program increases volunteer recruitment and retention while connecting educational, service, and financial incentives and benefits.
As a Site Supervisor for a member in our program, you will play an integral role in making this program successful. A Site Supervisor:
- Serves as a primary point of contact for a member during his/her term of service,
- Assists in training and orientating a member to his/her service site,
- Provides on-going advisement and mentoring during service,
- Provides some professional support to his/her member,
- Helps his/her member complete their Site Agreement,
- Signs monthly Time Logs,
- Completes an online evaluation at the end of his/her member's term of service.
